Katt joined the team at DCAC in August 2020. As the Bilingual Community Connector, she forms partnerships with organizations across the Denver Metro Area in order to bring DCAC resources to the community, and community resources to our clients. She also spearheads training, resources, and conversations in the community based on partner and community needs about abuse prevention, mental wellbeing, and trauma responsive care. As a “retired teacher,” Katt also supports the Denver Safe from the Start prevention program in DPS schools. Her favorite part of her job is working with community leaders to build resources and better partner with families and kids! Prior to coming to DCAC she worked as a 1st grade teacher in Nava, México at Instituto Lazaro Cardenas. In Denver, she spent 9 years teaching Kindergarten and Preschool in dual language and immersion schools throughout East Denver and Northside. Katt returns to Mexico yearly to visit students and friends, and to maintain her love of Mexican culture and Spanish. If you hang around her too long you will inevitably hear her say “Un pueblo unido jamás será vencido,” or ”A people united will never be defeated.”
